Vermonters may remember Libby Smith from her days as a standout on the UVM women’s basketball team from 1998-2002. But Libby was also the captain of the men’s golf team at UVM. There was no women’s golf program.
When she graduated, Libby decided to pursue a career in golf and turned professional in 2004. Since then she’s been playing around the world – and she’s qualified for the LPGA tour in this country. She competed in the U.S. Women’s Open earlier this month.
Right now she’s taking a break and visiting her parents. She spoke with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about the uncertainty and joys of life as a professional golfer.
