Localized flooding reported on Monday

Yesterday’s rain and high temperatures caused a handful of rivers around Vermont to crest over flood stage and cause localized flooding.

Vermont Emergency Management reported flooding in Moretown, Wilimington, Clarendon and Arlington. Some town roads were closed, but no serious damage or evacuations were reported.

Officials say Otter Creek, the Mad River and the Winooski River are still running high, but seem to be receding.

Vermont Emergency Management officials say that people should never drive across a flooded roadway because there could be an unseen washout or strong currents.
