Two months after being doused with lye, a Thetford woman is clinging to life in a Boston hospital as her friends and family members root for her and raise money for her.

Thirty-nine-year-old Carmen Tarleton was badly disfigured June 11th when, police say her estranged husband doused her with the corrosive chemical in an attack in her home.

She has undergone more than a dozen skin graft operations and remains sedated and unable to speak, but family members have rallied behind her and her two young daughters.

A fundraising raffle and bake sale is set for Friday at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, where she works as a nurse.
