Gov. John Lynch says New Hampshire is prepared to deal with swine flu if it shows up in the state.

Lynch and public health officials said Monday they are keeping in close contact with health care providers, schools and others to make sure suspected cases are reported. The state has a stockpile of antiviral drugs that can be used to treat swine flu and has requested more from the federal government.

Public health director Dr. Jose Montero emphasized that not everyone who has the sniffles needs to get tested. The focus is on people with respiratory systems who have traveled to Mexico and other outbreak sites, or are in contact with those who have.

The state also has set up an information line at 1-888-330-6764.
