Gov. John Lynch has signed legislation to help expand broadband and advanced telecommunications in New Hampshire.

The new law establishes a state director of broadband technology planning and development. Federal stimulus funds will pay for the position.

Lynch said Monday the state needs a high-technology infrastructure to compete. He said New Hampshire must do what it can now so businesses can thrive when the recession ends.
