A St. Johnsbury man shot by a Vermont State Police trooper in a Danville school bus is now facing a series of charges from the incident.

Thirty-six-year-old William Mahoney was issued citations Thursday for offenses that include assault on a police officer, unlawful trespass and negligent operation.

Mahoney was shot by a state trooper late on Sept. 18 after he allegedly stole a vehicle and then hid in a Danville school bus and broadcast threats on a school radio. He was shot after he made what police said were threatening moves toward a trooper.

Mahoney spent more than a month in the hospital. After he was released he was taken into custody on other charges.

He remains in jail. He’s due in court next month to answer the latest charges.
