(Host) A group opposed to a new access road in Manchester says it will take its fight to the state supreme court. Casella Waste Management plans to build the access road from Route 7A to the Sunderland transfer station. But the Coalition for Alternatives to Trucks Through Our Towns says it intends to appeal a decision by the state’s Environmental Court. That ruling cleared the way for the road project.
Judge Merideth Wright ruled that Casella’s project would improve public safety by shifting heavy garbage trucks off narrow, rural roads and onto Route 7A. But opponents say that the traffic would harm the historic character of Manchester Village.
