A Montpelier physician who’s campaigned for health care reform in Vermont is not going to be campaigning for lieutenant governor.

Deb Richter says she had considered running for the office as a Democrat, but that it would put too much of a strain on the colleagues in her Cambridge medical practice.

Current Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie, a Republican, is expected to run for re-election.

Richter has become well known in Montpelier for her efforts to bring about health care reform.

Democratic officials say they’re still looking for a candidate to run against Dubie.
