Democrat Gaye Symington has joined critics of Governor Jim Douglas’ Lake Champlain cleanup; the Vermont National Guard has broken ground on a new memorial for soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan; gasoline prices in Vermont average $3.96 a gallon today, and that’s helped to drive the Transportation Agency to revamp its system of car and van pools; plans to bring a new tour boat to Lake Memphremagog between Vermont and Quebec have been stalled by U.S. Coast Guard regulations.
