Vermont had severe weather over the weekend and some people have been without power for two days now; advocates say a good way to reduce mercury pollution is to encourage homeowners to recycle their old thermostats; a group based in Shelburne says the character of Vermont may be changing because of the state’s expanding population; the founder of the oldest and largest handcrafted jewelry company in the country has died.
