It now appears unlikely that Vermont’s Impeach-the-President movement will gain any traction in Montpelier or in Washington; an assessment of this year’s maple sugar season in Vermont; Town officials in Middlebury are considering a ban on the sale of the herb salvia divinorum that is legal but is said to produce hallucinogenic effects; Henry Markris, the maple syrup specialist at the state agency of agriculture, says it’s been an unusual sugar season; a committee that works to elect Democrats to the U.S. Senate is pushing former New Hampshire Governor Jeanne Shaheen to run against Republican John Sununu next year.
