State officials are offering help to those who suffered losses from last week’s strong storms; Green Mountain Power says it has reduced the company’s carbon footprint to zero and also unveiled its “Choose to be Green” program that shows customers how they too can go carbon-neutral; all over the English-speaking world there are parties today to mark the birthday of William Shakespeare, including at Lyndon State College in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom; Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton’s favorable rating is slipping in New York State, where voters aren’t quite as sure as they once were that they prefer her over Republican Rudy Giuliani or Democrat Barack Obama.
