People’s United Financial of Bridgeport, Connecticut, is planning to buy Vermont’s Chittenden Bank for $1.9 billion; Governor Jim Douglas and his counterparts in Canada want to delay a plan that requires passports to cross the U.S. Canada border; there’s some political grumbling coming out of Montpelier as legislators and the Governor take turns posturing over the energy bill the Governor has vetoed; VPR’s Bob Kinzel is in Washington this week, to report on a day in the life of a busy man, Senator Patrick Leahy.
