Vermont Natural Resources Secretary George Crombie is poised to name the state’s “lake czar” who will oversee the cleanup of Lake Champlain; the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York is scheduled to hear oral arguments next month on the first death sentence imposed in Vermont in nearly half a century; a Rutland man who allegedly praised the Virginia Tech gunman for sticking up for the mentally ill is being held on a federal charge of threatening to blow up a Social Security office; three quarters of the way through the month of May, Governor Jim Douglas is proclaiming this Older Vermonters Month.
