The Middlebury Police Department has suspended the search for a missing Middlebury College student because of bad weather.

Nineteen-year-old Nicholas Garza, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was last seen on Feb. 5 at a dormitory party.

Scores of searchers braved snow and cold Tuesday and Wednesday in the hunt for some clues as to Garza’s whereabouts, using poles to poke into the snow and search dogs.

Middlebury Police Chief Tom Hanley said yesterday that snowy conditions and the prospect of more snow prompted the decision to suspend the search.

He said the search will resume Saturday and the investigation into his disappearance is continuing.
