Prosecutors handling the case of a UVM student who was sexually assaulted and slain last October say they have more evidence they’ll submit for DNA testing.
Assistant Attorney General Matthew Levine told a judge at a hearing in Burlington that chewing gum, hair and a blood swab will be sent to a laboratory for testing.
DNA evidence is expected to play a key role in the case against 36-year-old Brian Rooney, who is charged with aggravated murder in the death of UVM senior Michelle Gardner-Quinn.
She disappeared while walking home after a night out and her body was found a week later in Richmond.
