Representatives of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission faced some tough questioning from a panel of judges weighing a citizen group’s challenge to the proposed relicensing of Vermont Yankee nuclear plant; This endless rain has left a lot of people cranky lately. But not the folks who run hydroelectric dams. The rushing water has their turbines spinning at full tilt – generating plenty of electricity; Vermont state officials are warning canoeists, kayakers and others to avoid a stretch of the Winooski River below where a bridge undergoing reconstruction fell into the river this week.
