MVP Health Care has proposed a plan to offer health insurance to Vermont customers of Mutual of Omaha. Mutual of Omaha announced last year that it is getting out of individual major medical coverage. The state has been trying to find a way to provide coverage for 4,000 policies.

An effort to transfer the policies to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont fell apart over questions of the creation of a subsidiary. Now MVP Health Care has proposed to take over the policies – a move that would require state approval.
