MVP offers individual health insurance policies

Vermonters have another health insurance option. On Monday, the state agency that regulates health care gave MVP Health Care permission to offer health insurance to individuals.

The plan offers Vermonters who can’t get health insurance through they’re workplace a new option for individual health insurance. The MVP program is similar to one offered by Mutual of Omaha. Mutual of Omaha is pulling out of the state on June first, leaving 8,000 Vermonters without coverage.

MVP will vary the cost of premiums for the individual coverage based on factors such as the age of the policyholder. Mutual of Omaha customers have been notified about the MVP option.
