New Hampshire’s congressional delegation have helped secure more than $126 million for 107 projects back home in the last year.

The practice of tucking money into federal spending bills for pet projects back home is known as earmarking, and has come to have a negative association with wasteful spending. But members of New Hampshire’s delegation say they chose worthy projects, including money for colleges, police departments, hospitals and defense contractors thorughout the state.

Overall, Congress approved more than 11,000 earmarks totalling $14.8 billion in the last budget year.
