New Hampshire Governor John Lynch is appointing a task force to address climate change in the state.

He says New Hampshire cannot afford to wait for national action on reducing those emissions.

Lynch wants the task force to establish goals and recommended steps for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The Climate Change Task Force was established by executive order. It will be chaired by Thomas Burack, the commissioner of the state Department of Environmental Services.

Other members are business and environmental leaders, legislators and community representatives.
