N.H. voters notice Thompson’s absence from campaign trail

As New Hampshire voters size up this year’s presidential hopefuls, there’s one face they’re not seeing much of.

"Law & Order” actor and former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson is perhaps best known in New Hampshire for his absence from the town meetings, house parties and retail stops that are the bread and butter of a primary campaign.

Thompson participated in his first presidential debate in Michigan last Tuesday, but he has been missing from the campaign trail.

A weekend visit to New Hampshire this weekend was canceled.

Undecided voters like Claire Roy of Manchester say Thompson should take the time to let New Hampshire citizens get to know him.

Thompson has been to New Hampshire just once since he formally entered the race in September. Aides say he plans stops this week in Washington, Georgia and Florida. A longer visit to New Hampshire is coming, but has not yet been scheduled.
