The Vermont National Guard has a new unit designed to train Air Force personnel to fight wars in cyberspace.

The 229th Information Operations Squadron is based at the National Guard armory on the campus of Norwich University in Northfield.

Vermont National Guard Adjutant General Michael Dubie says information operations is the future of the military.

Dubie says there are cyber attacks every day on the United States.

The 229th will train airmen from around the world via the Internet.

Vermont Air National Guard Master Sergeant Bill Cunningham says that before the creation of the 229th the people involved with the information technology training were on loan from other guard units.
