The National Weather Service says a violent storm that swept across parts of Vermont last week was the state’s first confirmed tornado in five years.

On July 18, the tornado hit parts of Cambridge.

The storm destroyed the barn on the Greg Beaudoin farm. It also knocked down many trees.

National Weather Service experts toured the area over the weekend and confirmed the damage was caused by a tornado.
