Programs to improve the Connecticut River from the Canadian border to Long Island Sound are getting a big boost. The Nature Conservancy is beginning a new conservation program, helped by a half million dollar grant from the Northeast Utilities Foundation. The grant will be spread over five years, but the project director said the program will take millions of dollars and many years to complete.
The program will focus on the entire watershed encompassing 20 thousand miles of river, including tributaries that feed the Connecticut between New Hampshire and Vermont and through Massachusetts and Connecticut.
