Officials in Hinsdale, New Hampshire are concerned about a power boost granted to the Yankee plant.

Selectmen have had concerns about the effectiveness of evacuation plans, and had planned a meeting for this month to talk about the power request.

Selectboard Chairman William Nebelski says he’s shocked the federal approval came before the meeting.

Hinsdale is one of five New Hampshire communities within Vermont Yankee’s ten-mile emergency zone.

Keene Mayor Michael Blastos said the increase is fine with him, and in the best interests of the area and the country. But he said he has concerns about evacuation plans, which could bring many people to Keene.
