Newfane Business Group Disbanding

A 25-year-old business group in Newfane is disbanding because of money troubles and a lack of member participation.

President Lenore Salzbrunn of the Newfane Business Association says that tough economic times and a dwindling number of volunteers is forcing the organization to end its efforts after the 10th Annual Community Yard Sale in June.

Salzbrunn tells the Brattleboro Reformer she realized the association’s days were numbered during a recent meeting. She says they’ve resisted the move over the past few years.

She says the association’s membership has been "aging out," meaning individuals are getting into their 70s or 80s, but the bruised economy is the real cause of the end of the organization.
