There could be a big development along the shores of Lake Memphremagog in Newport.

The city has approved site plans for a 77-room hotel, condominium complex and marina on Lake Memphremagog.

The development review board approved the plans Wednesday, following two days of hearings and brief deliberations.

Dena and Pauline Gray, a mother-and-daughter team who own the popular lakeside restaurant, first proposed the $12 million complex in March.

But they since made changes to the site plan after board members questioned the lighting and landscaping.
