Residents in South Hero are organizing to fight a proposed dollar store in their community. Opposition to the small box stores has been organized in a number of Vermont towns. The Vermont Telecommunications Authority has been awarded a $1.6 million federal grant to expand cellular phone and internet service in areas hit by flooding in 2011. Governor Peter Shumlin will be traveling to Brattleboro for a ribbon-cutting today at a newly renovated section of the Brattleboro Retreat psychiatric hospital that will house state patients.
