The senate is scheduled to consider the 2012 health care bill early next week. And as VPR’s Bob Kinzel reports, many of the key issues that were debated in the House are expected to be raised once again in the senate. Vermont House Speaker Shap Smith is telling lawmakers to be prepared to stay in Montpelier past the previously scheduled adjournment date. Vermont senators have backed away from banning plastic grocery bags and expanding the state’s bottle bill as they consider legislation on solid waste.
