Schools are closed today in the Rutland Southwest Supervisory Union, after teachers and school board negotiators couldn’t reach an agreement to avert a strike. More state legislators are demanding a revised merger agreement between Green Mountain Power and Central Vermont Public Service, because of concern over how $21 million should be returned to CVPS ratepayers. Governor Peter Shumlin is set to sign an overhaul of the state’s mental health system into law today.
