Officials say a New Hampshire man arrested in Vermont as a fugitive from justice was training to become a guard for the Vermont Department of Corrections.
Officials say Daren Gragg had changed his name to Michael Finney and was one week short of completing a five-week course at the Vermont Corrections Academy when he was arrested on Tuesday in Rutland on a warrant from New Hampshire.
His wife, 36-year-old Toni Gragg, was arrested Tuesday in Newport Center on multiple New Hampshire warrants.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Brian Hughes say they received a number of calls about the couple after their photos appeared Tuesday morning on the front page of the Caledonian Record newspaper.
Corrections officials say Gragg had created a new identity that passed a background check.
