Eighteen grants totaling nearly one million dollars have been awarded to northern New Hampshire and Vermont groups on behalf of the Neil and Louis Tillotson Fund.

The fields covered include economic development, conservation and sustainable forestry, education and basic needs and community safety net.

One of the largest grants, for over $155,000, went to the North County Health Consortium. It’s a two-year grant to develop and implement an initiative to recruit and retain young people in the health care industry.

The fund, which is part of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, accepts proposals from groups providing services in Coos County, as well as bordering communities in the U.S. and Canada.
