North Adams Hospital, Workers Reach Agreement

Service workers at North Adams Regional Hospital say they won’t strike this weekend, after union and hospital officials reached an agreement last night.

The two sides had been in dispute over whether supervisors should have the right to send workers home without pay when the number of patients drops.

Union officials say the agreement meets the union’s concerns about guaranteed hours of work, and gives the hospital operational flexibility while cutting costs. The full union membership will vote on the agreement next week.
