After World War II Donahue served as sports editor of the now defunct Burlington Daily News.
He worked for United Press in Europe and served for six years as national editor of the Washington Post.
Donahue got back into the newspaper business in Northfield in 1999. In July he sold the Northfield News and Transcript.
He is survived by his wife and six children.
