The Northfield police chief could lose his badge for allegedly falsifying training records for himself and other officers.

The Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council has voted to pull Jeffrey Shaw’s law enforcement certification.

He has 10 days to appeal the decision.

The Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council governs the Vermont Police Academy, and is made up of police officers, members of the public and representatives of state agencies.

Last spring the training council received a tip that Shaw had falsified records.

Following an investigation, Attorney General William Sorrell called Shaw’s conduct deceptive and questioned his "credibility and integrity as a police officer."
