The former deputy commander of the Vermont National Guard has been hired as deputy commissioner of the state Economic Development Department.
William Noyes will be in charge of the day-to-day operations of the department.
Commissioner Michael Quinn says that means he’ll be able to spend time on the road drumming up business.
Noyes was the second in command at the National Guard under former Adjutant General Martha Rainville.
He joined Rainville’s congressional campaign as a spokesman when they both retired from the Guard.
But he left within weeks with little explanation other than he was considering other job opportunities.
Before working full-time for the Guard, Noyes ran radio stations in Barre.
