Nurse charged in narcotic theft

A Copley Hospital nurse has been charged with taking narcotics from an operating room.

Fifty-nine-year-old James Erwin of Barre has pleaded innocent to the felony charge.

Erwin is accused taking a syringe of Fentanyl from an anesthesia cart at the Morrisville hospital and replacing it with water.

Erwin was released on the conditions including that he post a $1,000 release bond.

If convicted, he faces up to two years in prison and $5,000 in fines.
