Nurses begin radio campaign for union contract

A radio campaign starts Monday for the nurses’ union at Fletcher Allen Hospital. The advertisements discuss the nurses’ efforts to reach a contract agreement with the hospital. The nurses also have filed notice they could form an informational picket next week.

Nurses have accused the hospital leadership of making up a dire financial picture to thwart the union’s bargaining efforts. Fletcher Allen has denied those charges. Hospital officials maintain that first-time contract negotiations can take a year, or more. The nurses elected to form a union in October.
