Official Vt Primary Results Released

Vermont Secretary of State Jim Condos has announced the official results in Vermont’s primary.

A total of 103,264 Democratic and Republican votes were cast – which is a turnout of 23 percent.

Of those, 40,156 voted for President Barack Obama in the Democratic primary on March 6. That was 98 percent of all Democratic primary voters. In the Republican primary, 23,955 – or 39 percent of Republican primary voters – chose Mitt Romney.

Ron Paul came in second in Vermont’s Republican primary with 15,343 votes followed by Rick Santorum with 14,345 votes. Newt Gingrich got 4,937 or 8 percent of votes cast in the state.
