Vermont state officials are looking for the former head of the state Veterans’ Home in Bennington who they say still owe Vermont nearly 20-thousand-dollars for overbilling travel and other expenses while he was commandant of the home.

Earle Hollings resigned abruptly in January 2005 and moved to Connecticut. But the attorney general’s office says they have been unable to find him.

That word about Hollings comes more than two years after the state auditor found he had billed the state for about 26-thousand-dollars in excess expenses.

Former Auditor Randy Brock’s office found Hollings had been reimbursed for expenses including alcoholic beverages, meals costing more than the state’s limit for out-of-state travel, parking tickets and a plane ticket for his wife.
