The chairman of the Vermont House Commerce Committee has decided to run for re-election. Representative Mark Young is a Republican from Orwell.
He announced at the end of the legislative session that he did not plan to seek a seventh term in the House. But Republicans were concerned about the number of planned retirements among their ranks and have been trying to persuade many to reconsider their plans. Young decided to go for another term.
He is president of the First National Bank of Orwell.
