(Host) Outright Vermont is reporting positive results from the 2010 Safe Schools Report card.

Outright is an advocacy organization for the state’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth.

Melissa Murray is the executive director. She says the survey shows that Vermont schools have made significant progress supporting LGBT students.

(Murray) "Some of the ways they do that are by having gay-straight alliance clubs in schools, by tracking harassment, which they’re actually mandated to do anyways, by having anti-harassment presentations in schools, and by allowing students access to gender-neutral bathrooms."

(Host) Outright Vermont surveyed all 61 public high schools in Vermont.

Murray says she is happy with the survey results, but would like to see all of those high schools hosting gay-straight alliance clubs.
