Republican congressional candidate Greg Parke says Congressman Bernie Sanders is partially to blame for the terrorist attacks of September 11. The Sanders camp is dismissing the claim, which a spokesman says is evidence of Parke’s political extremism.
Parke said on Tim Philbin’s radio program on WSYB that he lays the blame for the 9/11 terrorist attacks at the feet of Sanders and others in Congress who voted to cut the intelligence budget.
Sanders’ chief of staff Jeff Weaver says the congressman has long sought to root out inefficiencies in the intelligence system. He says those inefficiencies include funding for obsolete Cold War-era programs. Weaver says Sanders is committed to reforming the system to prevent another terrorist attack.
