Democratic gubernatorial candidate Scudder Parker says the governor has been playing shameful political games with health care reform.

Parker says Governor Douglas’s threatened veto of a bill designed to provide health insurance to between 20,000 and 25,000 people who currently lack it is a failure of leadership.

Douglas has said he believes the Democratic-backed legislation would put the state’s finances at risk.

Parker says he would go farther than the current legislation, creating a single risk pool and working toward putting all Vermonters into it.

Parker today also got the endorsement of former Human Services Secretary and independent gubernatorial candidate Con Hogan
