Part-time faculty at the University of Vermont have ratified their first contract with the university.

The four year contract sets a new base-rate for part time faculty at $1,269 per credit hour for the courses they teach.

It also calls for pay raises between four and six percent in each of the next four years.

In addition, the contract creates a new seniority system based on how long a part-time faculty member has been teaching at UVM and how many credit hours he or she has taught in the past.

The deal also includes access to office space, computers and telephones and makes part-time faculty eligible for professional development money to attend conferences.
