Democrats applauded Democratic Governor John Lynch for focusing on jobs during his state-of-the-state speech.

But Republicans criticized him for not outlining budget cuts and supporting tax reductions.

Senate Republican Leader Peter Bragdon of Milford says that the biggest dampeners on job creation are the taxes Democrats raised during the three years they’ve controlled the Statehouse.

Bragdon said the best move the governor could make to boost employment would be to repeal the tax on Limited Liability Company dividends paid to individuals.
