A police department says a Manchester Center man told investigators he was shot during a drive-by shooting.
But Manchester police Chief Michael Hall says investigators are still trying to determine how 27-year-old Donald Ely-Gardner was shot Sunday evening.
Police say another man brought Ely-Gardner to the Manchester police department at about 8:30 Sunday night. Ely-Gardner was taken to the hospital and later airlifted to Albany Medical Center.
Hall says it appears Ely-Gardner was shot in the chest with a small caliber handgun.
Hall tells the Rutland Herald Ely-Gardner left his home on Sunday evening and later called a friend to say he’d been shot. The friend went to the scene and took him to the police department.
The investigation is continuing.
