Vermont State Police will be joining their counterparts from New York, the province of Quebec and the U.S. Border patrol to encourage safe driving during the Easter holiday weekend.

In Vermont, the operation will focus on areas along the border in Franklin, Grand Isle and Orleans counties with an emphasis on major corridors such as interstates 89 and 91, U.S. routes 7 and 2 and state Route 105.

Meanwhile, the Quebec Provincial Police will be holding a news conference Friday.

Vermont State Police Assistant Field Force Commander Capt. Robert Evans says highly visible aggressive traffic enforcement can reduce crashes and detect criminal activity.
