Officials say a Bennington building will undergo more testing before it houses state employees who were moved out of another building because of health concerns.

The owners of the downtown building already say the building is safe.

It was built on top of a brownfields site – ground that may be contaminated by pollution but can be reused if the contaminants are removed.

The state hopes to move workers who were removed from a state office complex after several employees developed sarcoidosis.

Sarcoidosis is an inflammation characterized by inflamed cells, often in the lungs. The building was closed in March 2007 and about 135 employees moved to temporary offices.
